Blog 3a TED Talk - Due 1/25
I did Juan Enriquez: Why can't we grow new energy? I did this because I think we should do something for alternative fuel sources before we use all of our natural resources up. We have used biological principles for growing corn and as a result we have probably increased the production per acre of corn by seven fold since the early 1900's. This is a result by Norman Burlock which has probably fed more people than any man alive. He used biological principles towards seeds and brought and end to the severe famine in India and China which now have statues of him. Which now export grain out of their countries.
What is oil, gas and coil? They are concentrated sunlight. How do you farm oil, gas, and oil? We use a brute force approach and we consistelently get bigger, destroying the environment further and further each time. He wants to know can we grow our energy as effectively, as we grow wheat? He mentions some interesting ideas during his speech. He supposively says it may be possible by splitting genes and condonons by taking one cell and another cell and creating our own energy. He also mentions using biology to turn organic material into energy. According to this site, he does just that one month after this speeech.

Class Content Blog
I use internet in education by blogging, and e-mail to communicate with my professor. In five years every-thing will probably be computer related from K-12th grade you will learn procedures on the internet when you are learning your abc's. We need to learn more unknown information that will let us be able to perform in the business world 30 years from know. There needs to be more ubiquity so every one in the world including developing countries can have acces to the endless possibilities on the internet.
TED Talk Blog Post
I personally think that schools do kill creativity. I think that because we are not creating new and interesting out of the ordinary information. We just go to class for the same amount of time everyday and learn basically the same amount of time. The teachers don't drastically suprise us and take us on an interesting field trip out of school pertaining to the information in their class. We walk in to class with our books and sit down in our seats and listen to the same identical information over and over. We have ciriculums of learning that we must follow we have to have the required amount of math, science, and english each year to go to the next grade. Some people think differently so you have to creativly adjust to each persons strengths and weaknesses. What we can do is have many class opportunities in every school and let the students pick what they want learn about, not what the teachers are paid to teach us. We need stop being afraid of being wrong, just like Sir Ken Robinson said. We Americans are afraid to be wrong. It is very true because if you are sitting in class and answer the teacher wrongly they get mad and fuss at you for not paying attention in class. So then in the future we just don't raise our hands so we don't have to be afraid of being wrong. It is really the teachers fault because they didn't teach creatively enough to make it click in your brain for you to remember when the question is asked upon in the future.
